Prof, husband killed in Iloilo road accident — report

A university professor and her seaman husband were killed in a road accident in Barotac Nuevo town in Iloilo province late Friday. Radio dzXL reported Saturday the incident occurred at 3:30 p.m. when the couple tried to overtake a tanker but hit a landmark and a narra tree. The fatalities were initially identified as Professor Corie May Sitias, 34, and husband Jaime, a seaman. Sitias was a professor at the West Visayas State University's College of Arts and Sciences. Initial investigation showed the incident occurred in Acuit village in Barotac Nuevo town, when the victims' Toyota Corolla (UCS-558) tried to overtake a tanker.
