Coast Guard to mariners: Take precautions at RP-US exercise site


The Philippine Coast Guard warned mariners to take precautions in areas where Philippine and United States navies will hold exercises this coming week. In a notice to mariners, the Coast Guard announced the coordinates for the four areas in the Luzon Sea where the exercises will take place. According the Coast Guard, the “At-Sea" serials will be carried out at Luzon sea or at the following coordinates:

  • Point A: 15 degs 00 mins North, 119 degs 20 mins East
  • Point B: 15 degs 00 mins North, 118 degs 50 mins East
  • Point C: 17 degs 00 mins North, 118 degs 50 mins East
  • Point D: 17 degs 00 mins North, 119 degs 20 mins East "(All) ships/watercrafts transiting the vicinity of the abovementioned areas are advised to take note of the information and take necessary precautionary measures," the Coast Guard said. The Naval Forces Northern Luzon will host the Philippine Navy and United States Navy for the Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2010 October 12 to 22. "The cooperation of all concerned in effecting widest dissemination of this information is requested," the Coast Guard said. –VVP, GMANews.TV
