10-10-10 not a lucky date for Calabarzon's most wanted

Finally, after hiding for 10 years, a suspect in a robbery and double homicide fell into the hands of lawmen on 10-10-10, October 10, considered by most people as a "lucky date." Unluckily for Ariel De Guzman Hernandez, whose capture carries a reward of P140,000, police personnel in Region IV caught up with him in Barangay Alitaya, Mangaldan, Pangasinan at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday. Police Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome, police director of Region IV, commended Police Superintendent Jesus Cambay and his men for arresting the suspect by virtue of a warrant issued by Hon. Judge Vicente F Landicho of RTC 4th Judicial Region, Branch 12, Lipa City. The suspect is charged with robbery with double homicide for killing brothers Miguel and Antonio Tapalla Mandigma at around 10:00 pm on September 14, 2000 in Mataasnakahoy, Batangas. The suspect allegedly stabbed the victims in the different parts of their bodies before taking away assorted jewelry, one cal. 38 revolver, and cash money amounting to P100, 000. “We need to account for Wanted Persons and effect their arrest to be able to complete the cycle of the Criminal Justice System", Bartolome said. –VVP, GMANews.TV
