Dancing tax collectors wow taxpayers in Cebu

After the Cebu penitentiary’s dancing inmates gained popularity and the controversial Cebu Pacific’s dancing flight attendants, come the dancing tax collectors of Cebu City. Radio dzBB’s Cebu affiliate reported Tuesday the Cebu City treasurer’s office had some of its employees stand up and dance to Shakira’s popular song “Waka-Waka" starting Monday. City treasurer Ofelia Oliva said the program aimed to convince residents to pay taxes and to thank them for doing so. The dancing tax collectors would dance once in the morning and once in the afternoon. The report quoted taxpayers as saying they were entertained, even as Oliva said videos of the dance will be in Internet soon. Oliva said the dancing tax collectors program gets its inspiration from the world-renowned dancing inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center. — LBG, GMANews.TV
