2 dead, 5 wounded in Laguna shooting spree

At least two people were killed while five were wounded after a former paramilitary man went on a shooting spree in a remote town in Laguna province before dawn Wednesday. Radio dzBB reported police are tracking down the suspect, described as a rebel returnee and a former Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) member. Police are also looking into how the suspect, initially identified as Teodulo Lizare, 29, got an M-16 rifle from a nearby CAFGU detachment. Killed in Lizare's shooting spree were Boy Flores and Mylene Dollas. Flores was killed on the spot while Dollas was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. An initial investigation showed the incident occurred at a wake in Layugan village in Pagsanjan town, where the suspect took part in a drinking spree. During the drinking spree, Lizare had an argument with a fellow drinker. He and a certain Arnold left the area but returned with an M-16 rifle. He allegedly fired on the people in the area, killing two and wounding five, and then fled. Police recovered 15 M-16 shells from the site. — LBG, GMANews.TV
