3 killed, 3 hurt in Maguindanao grenade blast


A family of three, including two children, were killed while three others were wounded following a grenade blast in the southern Philippine province of Maguindanao Wednesday night, a regional military spokesman said. In a text message sent to reporters Thursday, Lt. Col. Benjamin Hao of the Army's 6th Infantry Division said an unidentified suspect lobbed a hand grenade at the residence of the Timpadan family in Tinungcaan village in Upi town around 10:40 p.m. The fatalities were identified as Angelie, 30; Laarni, 6; and Ajulane, 4 - all members of the Timpadan family. Those hurt and taken to the Datu Blah Hospital were identified as Arjel, 10; Aishel, 7; and Allanes, 1. At present, Hao said authorities are still determining the possible motive behind the attack. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
