Report: 1 killed, 2 hurt in Manila ‘frat war’

At least one person was killed while two others were wounded after a man threw an explosive at them while they were drinking in Manila Thursday night. Radio dzBB’s Roland Bola reported early Friday police investigators are looking into the possibility a fraternity war was the motive for the incident. The fatality, initially identified as Goldwyn Magnaye, died while undergoing treatment in a hospital due to injuries to the head and body. One of the two injured was identified as Carlo Lloren. An initial investigation showed the victims were having a drinking spree near the corner of Cruzada and Legarda Streets near Quiapo at about 9:30 p.m. when a man with a backpack threw an explosive at them. Shortly after the suspect ran off, an explosion was heard, and the three victims were left bloodied. Residents tried to chase the suspect but failed to catch up with him. Police said they are looking into a fraternity war as a likely motive for the crime. They did not elaborate. — LBG, GMANews.TV
