Top Rank's Arum expected to watch Pacquiao training

Top Rank big boss Bob Arum is set to arrive in the Philippines on Saturday to personally see the progress of Manny Pacquiao's training for his November 13 title showdown with Antonio Margarito of Mexico. Arum will be joined on his trip by stepdaughter Dena DuBoef and possibly Mexican promoter Fernando Beltran. The veteran boxing promoter will proceed immediately to Baguio City where the 31-year-old seven-time world champion has set up training camp. "I am so excited to get there and see Manny, the team and the Filipino boxing fans," said Arum prior to departing for Manila.

This is the second time this year the 78-year-old Arum is visiting the country. He was here last May in the final week of the electoral campaign period to support the candidacy of Pacquiao for the congressional seat of the lone district of Sarangani province. On Monday, Pacquiao and Arum are set to hold a media day in training camp, when members of the press will be given time to interview the Filipino boxing icon. Trainer Freddie Roach, strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza, Arum, and sparmates Michael Medina and Glen Tapia will also be available to answer questions from the media before Pacquiao resumes his afternoon workout at the Shape Up gym inside the Cooyesan Hotel. Pacquiao's entourage is set to leave Baguio on October 22 for a day's workout in Manila before packing up and proceeding to the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles for the final two weeks of training camp. Arum and Co. are scheduled to leave for the U.S. together with Team Pacquiao. – JVP/KY, GMANews.TV
