Report: Cops zero in on ‘firefighter’ in Bar exam blast

Investigators looking into last month’s Bar exam blast in Manila are zeroing in on a man wearing a uniform of a firefighter, who was seen walking away from the site shortly after the explosion. Radio dzBB reported Saturday the Manila Police District cited initial closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showing a man wearing a Bureau of Fire Protection uniform near the blast site. The report cited policeman who said the CCTV footage showed the man wearing the BFP uniform talking to someone on a mobile phone shortly after the blast.
It also cited BFP “sources" who said the man in the CCTV footage was not a member of the agency. Police investigators said they are focusing on what the man was doing at the site, since the BFP was not among the first units to respond to the blast. Teams that initially arrived at the site after the blast included those from the Manila Police District and National Bureau of Investigation. At least 47 people were injured in the blast that marred the end of the Bar examinations at the De La Salle University last September 26. Investigators are analyzing CCTV footage as well as other evidence gathered from the site. However, they have yet to identify the suspects or file charges related to the incident. — LBG, GMANews.TV
