PAGASA: 3 dams in Luzon release excess water

At least three dams in northern Luzon opened their gates Saturday to release excess water from rains brought by typhoon "Juan" (Megi) in past days. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Binga Dam in Benguet particularly opened five of its gates. Binga's water level as of 6 a.m. Saturday was at 573.60 meters, less than two meters from its spilling level of 575 meters. Juan had barreled through northern Luzon this week. Its tail-end dumped rains on other parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila. On the other hand, the Ambuklao Dam also in Benguet opened two gates as its water level reached 751.34 meters, less than a meter below its spilling level of 752 meters. Magat Dam in Isabela opened two gates as its water level as of 6 a.m. was at 192.04 meters, less than a meter below the spilling level of 193 meters. —LBG, GMANews.TV
