At least 50 areas in three provinces in Northern Luzon remained without power after being battered by Typhoon Juan (Megi) last week. In its 6 a.m. update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said these included four in Pangasinan, 29 in Cagayan, and 33 in Isabela. These included:
Burgos, Dasol, Infanta and Mabini towns in Pangasinan; Piat, Rizal, Sto. Niño, Enrile, Penablanca, Solana, Tuao, Tuguegarao, Flora, Luna, Pudtol, Sta. Marcela, Aparri, Buguey, Camanalanuigan, Gattaran, Gonzaga, Lallo, Sta. Ana, Sta. Teresita, Abulug, Allacapan, Ballesteros, Calayan, Claveria, Lasam, Pamplona, Sanchez-Mira and Sta. Praxedes in Cagayan; and Delfin Albano, Ilagan, Palanan, Sto. Tomas, Tumauini, Divilacan, Maconacon, Aurora B Soliven, Burgos, Gamu, Mallig, Naguilian, Quezon, Quirino, Roxas, San Miguel and San Mariano in Isabela. Power had been restored in Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Nueva Vizcaya, the NDRRMC said. On the other hand, at least six roads remained impassable one week after Juan passed through Northern Luzon. These included: Itogon-Dalupirip Road Kalinga-Abra Road intermittent section Balbalan-Pinukpuk Road Banaue-Mayoyao-Aguinaldo-Isabela Boundary Road, Mayoyao section Mt. Province Boundary-Calanan Road Lubuagan-Batong Buhay-Abra Boundary Road The death toll remained at 31, with 42 injured and four still missing. Damage to property remained at P8.689 billion, including P8.223 billion to agriculture and P466.198 million to infrastructure. The NDRRMC said Juan affected at least 427,297 families in 240 towns and 17 cities. At least 30,916 houses were destroyed while 118,038 were damaged. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
