Three Indian nationals face deportation for using fake visas

Three Indian nationals are currently detained in Taguig City while awaiting deportation for attempting to enter the country using fake visas two weeks ago, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Wednesday. Indians Davinder Singh, Amritpal Singh Sidhu and Baldev Singh were detained at the immigration jail in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City. They were intercepted by immigration officers in Zamboanga City for using fake visas to enter the country on October 16, Bureau of Immigration officer-in-charge Ronaldo Ledesma said Wednesday. The Indian nationals, who were caught while disembarking a sea vessel from Sabah in Malaysia, claimed to be victims of a human trafficking syndicate that promised to eventually bring them to the United States, Ledesma added. Meanwhile, Immigration intelligence chief Faizal Hussin said the arrested Indian nationals were asked to pay half a million pesos by the syndicate to facilitate their trip to the US via Southeast Asia. “They were told to stay in Malaysia for four days and wait for further instructions. Later, they were told to board a vessel going to the Philippines, not knowing that the visas stamped on their passports are fake," he said. The Indian nationals will undergo deportation proceedings and will be blacklisted from entering the Philippines, according to Ledesma. –VVP, GMANews.TV
