Duavit is GMA Network’s new president


The Board of Directors of GMA Network, Inc. has elected Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. as the company’s new President, according to a statement released by the network Friday.

Duavit, who took over the position from Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, is also the broadcast firm’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). Gozon will remain the network’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Together with Gozon, Duavit is credited with the broadcast company's expansion projects and phenomenal rise in ratings and revenues, the statement said. Duavit — a member of the GMA Network’s board since 1999 — has served as the firm’s executive vice president and COO since 2000. At present, Duavit serves as the chairman of GMA Network Films Inc. and GMA Worldwide Inc.; the vice chairman of GMA Marketing and Productions Inc.; and the president and director of MediaMerge Corp. and Citynet Network Marketing and Productions Inc. His other positions include: president and CEO of GMA Holdings Inc., Scenarios Inc., RGMA Marketing and Productions Inc., and Dual Management and Investments Inc.; the director of RGMA Network Inc., GMA New Media Inc., Alta Productions Group Inc., Optima Digital Inc., and Monte-Aire Realty and Development Corp.; and the executive vice president and director of Group Management and Development Inc. He also serves as the President GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc. and as a Trustee of Guronasyon Foundation, Inc. (formerly LEAF).
