DOH warns of spoiled food at cemeteries

As Filipinos started trooping to cemeteries to pay respects to their dearly departed, health authorities advised them Saturday to make sure their food and water is clean and safe. In a radio interview, Health Secretary Enrique Ona particularly urged Filipinos going to cemeteries to ensure their food won’t get spoiled. “We encourage the public to make sure their water is clean and their food is not spoiled," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. His advice came amid reports several vendors selling food items, including cooked food and bottled water, had taken several areas around major cemeteries in Metro Manila and elsewhere. Ona said that if people are forced to buy food from vendors in cemeteries, they should at least make sure the items are clean. “Make sure ingat na ingat para safe ang holiday (Ensure the cleanliness of the food so your holiday will be safe)," he said. — LBG, GMANews.TV
