2 killed, 2 hurt in bus-jeep collision in CamSur


Two people were killed and two others were hurt in a bus-jeepney collision on a highway in Camarines Sur province Saturday. Senior Inspector Samuel Alforte, acting chief of police of Ragay town police, told radio dzBB that the road incident involving an Amihan Transit bus (DVJ 576 with body number 10808) and a passenger jeepney (DSK 177) on Andaya Highway in Barangay Godofredo Reyes Sr at about 9:30 a.m. Authorities said the Manila-bound bus came from Naga City, while the jeepney was from Calauag town in neighboring Quezon province, heading for Naga City. Alforte said the two fatalities included the jeepney driver and a jeepney passenger. He identified one of them as a certain Vicente Nieva, even as the second killed victim could not immediately be identified because the remains could not yet be pulled out from the wreckage. The two injured victims were identified as certain "Marilou" and a boy named Aries Nieva, who are already being treated at the Maria Eleazar Hospital in Tagkawayan town in Quezon. As of this posting, the two vehicles are still blocking the road, causing traffic to stop on all lanes. The police official said despite the road incident, "there will be no rerouting kasi malayo ang iikutan (since vehicles wil have to travel farther)." — Mark Merueñas/LBG, GMANews.TV
