Mindanao monks' coffee to be exported to Macau
Coffee made by monks in Mindanao may soon find its way to the tables of coffee lovers in Macau. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Friday that two Philippine firms have signed an agreement with a Macau buyer at the 15th Macau Trade and Investment Fair. "It was the first time that the two Philippine food exporters participated in the Macau trade fair organized by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), which is equivalent to Philippine trade office and the Center of Investment and Trade Exposition Mission (CITEM)," the DFA said in its website. Under the agreement, Amarich Marketing International and Ani Agriculture will respectively supply "Monk's Blend" coffee and frozen fruits and fruit juices to Macau. Representing the Philippine side at the signing were Amarich Marketing International's General Manager, Amabel Caparas Frias, and Ani Agriculture Inc.'s Account Executive, Nansi Li. The Macau side was represented by US Mart Food Hall's owner-manager Maggie Cheung. Witnessing the protocol signing ceremonies were IPIM President Jackson Chang and Philippine Consul General Renato Villapando, together with other Macau officials and executives of business chamber organizations. "From the Benedictine monastery on the mountains of Bukidnon, comes a rare pleasure. Monks' Blend Premium Coffee is made from the finest Robusta and Arabica coffee beans, nurtured in the cold climate, high altitude and unique volcanic soil of Bukidnon, Mindanao," said Amarich Marketing International, Inc. on its webpage. - TJD, GMANews.TV
