Hate page vs Palace aide set up on Facebook

She may have been forgiven by her boss, but Carmen “Mai" Mislang, speechwriter of President Benigno Aquino III, is still getting flak for her controversial messages on social networking site Twitter while she was in Vietnam. Her notoriety has entered a new phase with a hate page set up on Facebook where critics chastised Mislang, part of the Philippine delegation in Vietnam for the recent ASEAN summit, for her allegedly tactless tweets.

"THIS IS A HATE PAGE DEDICATED TO THE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL MISS MAI MISLANG! PNOY'S SPEECHWRITER. WE, FILIPINOS, ARE ASHAMED OF YOU," read the information on the page. The first entry on the page’s wall referred to Mislang’s comment that the wine served at a toast to Aquino “sucks." Its time stamp indicated it was posted at 9:39 a.m. Many of the critics who posted messages on the wall called Mislang a “disgrace," while some questioned the Palace for not firing her, saying the fact she was not fired “shows something wrong with the government" and with Filipino culture. “Dapat maging Persona Non Grata yan sa Vietnam! Pano pala ang reaksyon natin kung Vietnamese ang nagsabing walang pogi sa Pinas nag sunog siguro tayo ng Vietnamese Flags?? pasalamat sya restricted ang Networking sites sa VN!!" said one Dylan Gallaza. (She should be persona non grata in Vietnam. How will we react if Vietnamese people say there are no handsome Filipinos, will we burn Vietnamese flags? She should be thankful networking sites are restricted in Vietnam.) Mislang had apologized for her tweets criticizing the wine and road safety in Vietnam, along with her claims that there are no handsome men there. She also took down her Facebook and Twitter accounts. President Aquino said he will not fire Mislang, although Palace officials said they would review guidelines in the use of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. - KBK, GMANews.TV
