Palace: No committee formed to search for future First Lady

Malacañang Palace has not formed a search committee to help President Benigno Simeon Aquino III find his future First Lady. Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte made the statement after comedienne Ai-Ai Delas Alas joked that she could be the president's next girlfriend and future sister-in-law of her best friend — Aquino's youngest sister Kris. Malacanang is not forming a search committee nor setting up a screening process to help President Aquino find his future First Lady, “Sa pagkakaalam ko, wala namang Search Committee. Kay Pangulo na lang sila mag-apply," joked Valte. (As far as I know, there is no Search Committee. They can apply with the President himself.) Asked how the interested women could apply, she said “Bahala na lang sila kung papaano nila gagawin ito." (It depends on them how they would go about it.) Kris said in her Twitter account on October 23 that De las Alas told her not to call her “friendship" anymore as she would be her brother’s next girlfriend. “At a tvc shoot now w/ Friendship Ai. A Palace official said there was nothing wrong if the President would date a comedienne like Delas Alas, saying that he is free to go out with anyone he chooses. “Ano ba masama doon kung gusto ng Pangulo? Sino tayo para humusga sa Pangulo kung sino magustuhan niya? Sino naman tayo para humusga sa kagandahan ng isang tao?" the official added. (What's wrong if that's what the President wants? Who are we to judge whom the President likes? Who are we to judge the beauty of a person?) The President was earlier rumored to have broken up with girlfriend, Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad, after he was seen dating other women in the past months. Among those rumored to be dating the Bachelor President were his stylist Liz Uy and a certain Barbie Palagos. Tweets and text messages about the President’s dates have been circulating after Aquino was spotted in some commercial malls like the Podium in Ortigas, Trinoma in Quezon City and Greenbelt in Makati. –VVP, GMANews.TV
