Body of drowning victim in Malabon found


UPDATED 12:30 p.m. — Authorities have found the body of a 17-year old boy who was missing since Tuesday after the boat that he and his girlfriend were riding sustained a leak and sank in a fishpond in Catmon, Malabon. According to GMA’s Flash Report, Coast Guard frogmen found the body of Dionel Roda at around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The report said the Malabon rescue team and neighbors of Roda tried to search for him for almost 19 hours since he fell into the water at around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday but failed due to lack of equipment. Coast Guard frogmen arrived around 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday to help in the search and found Roda’s body an hour later.

The boy's girlfriend was rescued. She kept cried as her boyfriend's body was found on Wednesday when they were supposed to celebrate their anniversary. The girlfriend and the victim’s parents were brought to the Philippine General Hospital to undergo psychological debriefing because of the tension and stress brought by the incident. –VVP, GMANews.TV
