Bomb threat grips McDo outlet in Quezon City

Days after at least five countries began tagging the Philippines as a potential terrorist target, a bomb threat hit an outlet of an American fast-food chain in Quezon City Thursday. Radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported that police rushed to a McDonald's branch along Timog Avenue corner Scout Tobias after the outlet's manager reported the threat. "May telephone call siguro di nila kilala, pero lalaki raw. Ang sabi, 'pasasabugin ko ang store ninyo,' ganoon lang (An unidentified male caller told the store staff he will blow up the store)," said a member of a police team that rushed to the site. Police said the outlet's manager then called up the Quezon City Police District, which sent bomb experts to the site. Additional police teams that were deployed to the area also took precautions to secure the fast-food outlet. Five countries including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia, had warned their nationals of possible terrorist attacks in areas frequented by foreigners. The advisories on the Philippines came less than a week after a terrorist plot to attack the US was thwarted. — LBG, GMANews.TV
