Killed suspect in Makati shooting still unidentified


A day after after the death of an armed man, who shot two people dead in Makati City, authorities are still struggling to determine his identity. Makati police head Superintendent Froilan Bonifacio was quoted in a radio dzBB report as saying investigators still do not know the name of suspect because the wallet recovered from him did not contain any identification card. The police official said no one has come forward to claim the suspect's remains, which are still with the Veronica Funeral Homes in Pasay City. Bonifacio said they are still going over the contents of the mobile phone recovered from the suspect. He said they are also checking if the man was a member of a criminal syndicate operating in Metro Manila. The suspect, armed with a sub-machine gun, a revolver, and a grenade, was killed in a shootout in Barangay Bangkal ini Makati on Thursday after trying to evade arrest. The suspect was killed by snipers on the roofs of neighboring houses around 2 p.m. During the police chase that started around noon, the suspect allegedly killed a fireman, Fire Officer 3 Armando Bose, from whom he tried to steal a motorcycle along Evangelista Street, also in Bangkal. A bystander was also killed when the man allegedly opened fire. Officials from the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Makati City Fire Department are expected to visit the wake of the slain fireman to express their condolences to the wife of Bose - Jona Bose - and their two children. –VVP, GMANews.TV
