Pagunsan stretches Bali Open lead to three shots

Juvic Pagunsan shot a four-under-par 68 to stretch his lead to three over his closest pursuer Swede Jarmo Sandelin in the $60,000 Bali Open of the Asian Development Tour at the New Kuta Golf Resort in Bali, Indonesia. The 32-year-old Pagunsan was brilliant all day, canning five birdies and a marvelous eagle on the par-five ninth hole where he placed a 270-yard second shot using a three wood to within eight feet of the cup. He also had three bogeys. "I played really well on the front nine and I’ll stay aggressive in the last round. But this is not a big lead, not against this field. It can disappear quickly," said a wary Pagunsan, who wound up with a 207 aggregate for 54 holes. Sandelin, the former Ryder Cup star, stayed within striking distance with a 32 at the turn but faltered in the final nine holes. He mistakenly replaced his ball in the 12th, which sparked three straight bogeys. The Swede finished with a 70 for 210 in the last Asian Development Tour event of the year, which will reward the top-three finishers on the Order of Merit (OOM) Asian Tour card next season. Simon Dunn of Scotland was alone at third (71-215). Michael Bibat, the only other Filipino, jumped to sixth with a 217 after a 68. – Adrian Flores/JVP, GMANews.TV
