Margarito's trainer on Roach: Be careful what you wish for
Robert Garcia, Antonio Margaritoâs trainer, wonât take Freddie Roachâs fiery words sitting down. The soft-spoken former world champion warned Roach to be careful of what he wishes for after the four-time Trainer of the Year stood by his earlier prediction that Manny Pacquiao will knock out Margarito in either the 8th or 9th round of their World Boxing Council (WBC) super-welterweight title fight on Saturday (Sunday in Manila). âRoach should better watch what heâs saying," said Garcia in the third installment of HBOâs four-part series 24/7 that delves on the training and preparation of both parties leading up to the bout to be held at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Garciaâs statement was in response to Roachâs assessment that the 32-year-old Mexican wonât last the full distance against Pacquiao, the man widely seen as the pound-for-pound king of boxing today. âWe will knock this guy out, I promise you," said Roach. âI see this fight as an easy fight, and right now with the way Mannyâs working, I donât see any problems." Margarito, on a comeback trail after being suspended from fighting for a year, added fuel to the fire by saying Pacquiao wonât get any help from anybody once they step into the ring. âInside the ring, itâs only me and Manny," he said. The 31-year-old Pacquiao reacted sharply. âHe (Margarito) talks too much," the Filipino fighter said in the same HBO series. âLetâs get this on." - KY, RCJ, GMANews.TV
