Margarito stakes sponsorship deal with clothing line

Mexican boxer Antonio Margarito is confident of beating Manny Pacquiao on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) that he’s staking his sponsorship deal with a popular clothing line. The 32-year-old former three-time welterweight champion will face Pacquiao in a 12-round bout for the World Boxing Council (WBC) super-welterweight title Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the Cowboys Stadium. "I have full confidence that I am going to beat Manny Pacquiao," said the Mexican, who has been sponsored by the clothing line Affliction in his last three fights. Winning against the world’s top pound-for-pound fighter means a continued partnership between the two parties, but a loss would result in the discontinuation of sponsorship from the clothing company. "This deal that I have made with Affliction reinforces that confidence," Margarito stressed. Affliction is a brand of clothing that promotes mixed martial arts bouts. And Margarito, known as the "Tijuana Tornado," said the clothing company perfectly suits his brand of boxing. "The look of the Affliction clothing is perfect for my boxing style," said Margarito. "And I appreciate that they are willing to continue to support me for this fight. I will be taking their money home, too." – JVP/KY, GMANews.TV
