Amid tight security, Clinton arrives in PHL

Amid tight security, former United States President William Jefferson "Bill" Clinton arrived in the Philippines before noon Wednesday. Radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported that Clinton arrived aboard a private N-2767 Boeing 767 plane at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Some 20 vehicles of Philippine police and US Embassy officials were waiting for him at the general aviation area, the report said.

Earlier, dzBB reported security was tight at NAIA, with media not allowed to enter key areas in the airport. Clinton will deliver a talk on globalization at The Manila Hotel Wednesday afternoon. It is Clinton's first visit to the Philippines since he arrived more than 10 years ago — then as US President — to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
