Report: Further delay seen in LRT fare hike

Light Rail Transit (LRT) commuters may get an early Christmas gift of sorts as the planned LRT hike may be delayed. Radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen quoted Transportation Undersecretary Dante Velasco as saying the LRT Authority Board has yet to meet to discuss the fare hike. Proposed fare hikes for the LRT have to pass through the LRTA Board for approval. Velasco said the LRTA Board will not likely to meet on the matter until at least December, according to the dzBB report. Even if the LRTA Board approves the fare hike in December, authorities will still have to conduct public consultations before any fare hike can be implemented. The LRT Line 1 connects Monumento (Caloocan) to Baclaran (southern Metro Manila) but was recently extended to Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City. LRT Line 2 connects C.M. Recto Avenue (Manila) to Santolan (Pasig City). – VVP, GMANews.TV
