More people arrested on last day of gun ban; violators reach 940


At least 14 people were arrested on Wednesday, the last day of a gun ban for the October 25 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, bringing to 940 the final tally of gun ban violators. Radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen cited figures from the Philippine National Police showing that 14 persons were arrested between 6:00 a.m. and midnight on Wednesday, the last day of the gun ban. The figures indicated that the last-minute violators did not include police personnel and soldiers. The 940 violators included 862 civilians, 18 police personnel and nine soldiers, as well as 31 government employees, the report said. The police seized 779 firearms, 261 of them high-powered; 218 bladed weapons, 60 explosives and seven airguns. –VVP, GMANews.TV
