Businessman kidnapped in Maguindanao


COTABATO CITY – A Filipino-Chinese owner of a gasoline station was abducted on Sunday afternoon by three heavily armed men in Datu Piang town in Maguindanao province. Police identified the victim as Rodolfo Chio, 60, owner of Caltex gasoline station in Poblacion Dulawan. He was reportedly tending to his business when the suspects on board a black sedan arrived and abducted him. One of the suspects reportedly hit Chio in the face with a hand gun and forced him into the car which then sped toward nearby Barangay Datu Gumbay, also in Datu Piang. Statements from witnesses said the victim was transferred to a motorized pump boat that sped toward the Liguasan marshland. Elements of the 29th Infantry Battalion have been dispatched to pursue the kidnappers and rescue Chio. - Williamor Magbanua/KBK, GMANews.TV
