Motorcycle-riding gunmen shoot Pasig councilor

Unidentified gunmen shot a councilor of Pasig City before fleeing aboard motorcycles Wednesday morning. Ogie Reyes, an inspector of the city's San Miguel village, said the men used .45 caliber pistols in shooting City Councilor Benito Apia. "Dati may death threat sa kanya di niya pinapansin (He had received death threats sometime ago but he did not take them seriously)," Reyes said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said Apia was standing outside his business establishment when two men approached him. One shot him on the face and body while the other acted as lookout. The men then fled aboard a motorcycle. "Hindi siya nagba-bodyguard (Apia does not have a bodyguard)," Reyes said. The initial investigation showed that four shots were heard before the gunmen fled toward the city's floodway area. – VVP, GMANews.TV
