Phivolcs: 2 predawn quakes rock Zambales

At least two quakes rocked Zambales province in northern Philippines before dawn Thursday, one of them measuring magnitude 4, but state seismologists said no damage or casualty was expected. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the first quake was recorded at 2:30 a.m., measuring magnitude 4. Phivolcs said the epicenter of the first quake was traced to 113 km northwest of Iba town in Zambales, and was tectonic in origin, but did not say where the quake was felt. A second quake measuring magnitude 2.8 was recorded at 5:21 a.m., with the epicenter at 52 km southwest of Iba town.
