Report: Child hurt, families evacuated as wall collapses in QC

An 11-year-old girl was injured while families had to be evacuated after a wall of a residential compound in Quezon City collapsed before noon on Thursday. Radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported that the girl was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment after the incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. The report added that the Quezon City Hall sent rescue teams to help the families evacuate a residential area along Libis Street in Apolonio Santos village in Balintawak, Quezon City. "Narinig ko may kalampag tapos tumakbo ako. (Yung bata) nakaipit na, umiiyak (I heard a loud noise and I ran to investigate. I saw the child pinned under a part of the collapsed wall, crying)," said an elderly resident who helped rescue the child. Rescue workers said the wall of the compound, estimated to be 10 meters long, may have collapsed due to age. "Medyo mahina ang foundation. Sabi ng residente, dati na yan (Its foundation may have given way. Residents said the wall is very old)," one of them said. – VVP, GMANews.TV
