One more fight for Pacquiao before retiring

Eight-division world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao said that he is ready to fight any boxer hoping to get a chance to face him inside the ring. "Lalabanan ko kung sino ang puwede. Boksingero tayo kaya walang pinipili na kalaban," said Pacquiao in an interview upon arriving early Saturday morning in Manila after a 15-hour flight from the United States. The newly-crowned World Boxing Council (WBC) super welterweight champion said he plans to have one more fight before finally hanging up his gloves. “Hihirit pa ako ng isang laban bago mag retire. Kaya ko pa naman." Asked who between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Sugar Shane Mosley he wants to meet for his farewell match, Pacquiao said: “Kahit kanino sa kanilang dalawa, handa ako. Kaya natin sila, basta paghahandaan natin ang laban." Pacquiao clinched his eighth world title in as many weight divisions by beating Mexican Antonio Margarito in a 12-round slugfest last week at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The reigning pound-for-pound king had a dominating performance against Margarito throwing a total of 474 power punches compared to the 229 made by the Mexican fighter known as the "Tijuana Tornado." Pacquiao said he wasn’t frustrated despite failing to knock out the bigger and heavier Margarito. "Talaga namang napakalaki ni Margarito sa akin. Hindi naman lahat ng kalaban ay napapatumba. Hindi lagi knockout ang resulta sa boksing." Margarito started out slow in the fight but managed to pound Pacquiao’s ribcage. After the fight, Pacquiao underwent an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) to check for any serious damage. "Okay naman lahat ang test. Kaya natuloy ang meet-and-greet sa Lake Tahoe," said Pacquiao, who was once again given a hero's welcome by his countrymen. After a brief press conference at the Centennial Airport lounge, Pacquiao’s entourage proceeded to the New World Hotel to take a brief rest and have breakfast. Pacquiao then attended Mass at the Quiapo church, a tradition he's followed every time he comes home from a boxing match. He then met with President Noynoy Aquino and ended the day with a mini concert at the SM Mall of Asia. – KY,GMANews.TV
