2 soldiers hurt in Batangas ambush by suspected NPA rebs


Two members of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) were wounded in a surprise attack launched by suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) on Saturday afternoon in Batangas province, police said. Sergeant Rowel Moster and Airman 2nd Class Rickred Paradeza were injured after suspected NPA gunmen fired at the vehicle they were riding at Barangay Natipuan in Nasugbu town at 2 p.m. Saturday, Superintendent Arcadio Ronquillo of the Batangas police said in a text message. The two airmen both sustained shrapnel wounds in different parts of the body, while the military vehicle was damaged with four bullet holes. The casualties were rushed to the Nasugbu Doctors Hospital for treatment, and were declared out of danger. Joint elements of the PAF and the Batangas police are currently conducting pursuit operations to track down the assailants, according to Ronquillo.—Andreo C. Calonzo/JV, GMANews.TV
