Report: NGOs join govt in fight vs human trafficking


Four nongovernment organizations have joined the Aquino administration in the fight against human trafficking, according to a report Sunday by The Gulf, a United Arab Emirates-based newspaper, quoting a Cabinet official. Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo said in the report the Blas F. Ople Centre and Training Institute, the Visayan Forum Foundation, the Association of Child Caring Agencies of the Philippines, and Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy have joined the Department of Interior and Local Government in the fight to protect Filipinos in search of jobs abroad. The organizations aim to protect Filipinos from exploitation, Robredo said.. “All parties have agreed to further intensify the advocacies, interventions and active participation of local government units in the fight against human trafficking in the country," he said. — JE/VS, GMANews.TV
