PNoy still trusts DOT chief despite slogan flak - spokesperson

President Benigno Aquino III will retain Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim despite the widespread flak received by the tourism department’s new slogan, “Pilipinas, Kay Ganda (Philippines, so beautiful)," a Palace spokesperson said on Sunday. Even though the President himself is not in favor with the new slogan, he still has complete trust in Lim, said deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte in a radio interview. “Opo, nandiyan pa rin ang tiwala ni Pangulong Aquino dahil nangyayari naman talagang mga iyan (Yes, President Aquino still trusts Secretary Lim because things like that happen)," she said. The Department of Tourism has already backtracked on its “Pilipinas, Kay Ganda" slogan, claiming it is not yet final and that the concept is still being studied. The new slogan replaced “Wow Philippines." Aquino on Saturday said the public’s negative reaction to the new slogan means the stakeholders are not content with the attempt to change the tourism program’s brand. “Siguro automatic na kailangan, hindi na siguro i-fine-tune pero ihahanap nga ng mas angkop (I think instead of fine-tuning it, the tourism department should have something more appropriate)," the President said. Critics asked why did the DOT come up with a Tagalog slogan if its target audience are foreigners. - KBK, GMANews.TV
