PAGASA expects colder weather until February

Filipinos can expect colder weather in the coming weeks leading to Christmas – and go down even further to February next year, state weather forecasters said Wednesday. Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Joel Jesusa said this is due to the northeast monsoon (amihan). "We can expect the northeast monsoon to cause cooler temperatures. The coldest period is expected to be in January and February," Jesusa said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said temperatures between December and February are expected to go down to as low as "18 to 19 degrees" Celsius. "Temperatures will go down further, probably down to 18 to 19 degrees in December to February," he said. For Wednesday, Jesusa said the tail-end of a cold front may bring cloudy skies and rains over Northern and Central Luzon. PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin also said an Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) may similarly bring rains to Mindanao. "Northern and Central Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with light rains and isolated thunderstorms while Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms," PAGASA said. — LBG, GMANews.TV
