Tiger Airways, SEAir forge deal over PHL market

Budget carrier Tiger Airways has partnered with Philippine-based Southeast Asian Airlines (SEAir) for access to the country’s surging travel market. In a statement Wednesday, SEAir said it signed a marketing arrangement with “tigerairways.com" allowing the Singapore-based carrier access to SEAir passengers. Seats will be marketed and distributed to SEAir passengers using tigerairways.com, Tiger Airways’ internet booking system. “Making flights operated by SEAir available on the Tiger Airways website will ensure that customers can easily access more routes and destinations with the same low fares currently offered through [our website]," Tiger Airways Holdings president and CEO Tony Davis said. The arrangement ensures more low-fare seats, contributing to the growth of SEAir and the Clark gateway at the Disodado Macapagal International Airport and “benefiting customers in the Philippines and across the Asia Pacific region," SEAir said in a statement. The partnership between SEAir and Tiger Airways is the first in the region, according to SEAir. This December, SEAir said it would also start offering international flights — Pampanga-Singapore-Pampanga — using aircrafts rented from Tiger Airways. The lease agreement has been approved by the Civil Aeronautics Board of the Philippines, according to SEAir. “Additional routes operated by SEAir using these new jet aircraft will be added to the program over the coming months," SEAir president and CEO Avelino Zapanta said. “With this new collaboration with Tiger Airways, we will also be able to serve more international visitors to the Philippines by offering more destinations with great value, low fares," Zapanta said. “In addition, the introduction of these new jet services will create a welcome boost to the Philippines tourism industry and create more high-caliber local jobs," he added. — JE/VS, GMANews.TV
