Injuries force Patrombon, doubles partner to skip q'final match

Filipino junior netter Jeson Patrombon and doubles partner Jarin Grinter of New Zealand decided to skip their quarterfinals match in the 24th Yucatan World Cup in Meridan, Mexico due to injuries. Patrombon had a wart growing on his left foot that affected his mobility on the court while Grinter pulled his stomach muscle. The injuries forced the seventh-seeded pair to withdraw from their scheduled game against second seeds Oliver Golding and George Morgan of Great Britain. Patrombon also made it to the quarterfinal round in boys’ singles. He is expected to barge into the Top 15 once all of his ITF ranking points are tallied. The 17-year-old Patrombon started 2010 ranked 300th but climbed to No. 30 after figuring prominently in a number of ITF events. He also topped the China Junior 2 in Xiamen, China. Patrombon is scheduled to have the wart removed once he returns to Manila. He will also take a rest before going back to training in time for another grueling Tour in 2011. First in Patrombon’s calendar is the Australian Juniors Open in Melbourne in the latter part of January. – KY/JVP, GMANews.TV
