Kadchapanan, Von Deichmann rule Phinma Jr netfest

What was expected to be an exciting finale in the Phinma International Junior Tennis Championship Week 1 turned out to be a walk in the park for Nuttanon Kadchapanan of Thailand. The No.2 seed Kadchapanan blanked compatriot Nattan Benjasupawan, 6-0, 6-0, to turn a championship game into a virtual practice match Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center. Kadchapanan hardly broke out a sweat in his match with his seventh-seeded rival, in stark contrast from his semis showdown with Louis Donczyk of Poland where he needed three sets before pulling off the win. The girls' finals match between Kathinka Von Deichmann of Liechtenstein and Aldila Sutjiadi of Indonesia provided a similar result.

In the end, the European netter proved to be too much for Aldila, winning 6-2, 6-3 in the event presented by Phinma Properties and supported by the ITF Grand Slam Development Fund. Von Deichmann was a solid performer throughout, easily winning her quarterfinals match against Marinel Rudas before dispatching of American Desirae Krawczyk in the semis. Wrapping up her campaign in this week-long event by winning the championship, she is now eyeing back-to-back titles, with the Week 2 event starting on Monday. In the girls doubles event, Nathathai Khuntaket and Varunya Wongteanchai of Thailand repulsed Ekaterina Klyueva of Russia and Sanae Ota of Japan, 7-5, 7-5. All winners were awarded championship plates by Phinma vice president Drake Lopez, ITF referee Wannawit Srirasa and tournament director Loida Mallare. – KY, Rey Joble, GMANews.TV
