Cop dies during physical fitness test

A 47-year-old policeman collapsed and died while undergoing a physical fitness test at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame Tuesday. Chief Superintendent Lina Sarmiento, head of the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG), identified the fatality as SPO1 Flaviano Alcantara Jr., who collapsed while jogging inside Camp Crame during a physical exam around 6 a.m. Alcantara belonged to Sarmiento's unit. Sarmiento said was Alcantara was brought to the PNP General Hospital but was pronounced dead at 3 p.m. Authorities are still investigating the incident as of posting time. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
