Phivolcs: Magnitude-3.8 quake rocks Batanes

A magnitude-3.8 quake rocked Batanes province in Northern Luzon before midnight Tuesday, but state seismologists said no damage or casualty was expected. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Wednesday the quake was recorded at 11:09 p.m. Tuesday, and was tectonic in origin. In its bulletin, Phivolcs traced the quake's epicenter to 65 km northwest of Basco, Batanes. However, Phivolcs did not immediately indicate what intensity the quake was felt. No aftershock was expected from the quake, it added. — LBG, GMANews.TV
