Report: Thieves take P10M from BPI branch in Zambales

Unidentified men took some P10 million from a branch of the Bank of the Philippine Islands in Iba town in Zambales, police said Wednesday morning. Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said the theft was discovered at 9 a.m., radio dzBB's Benjie Liwanag Jr, reported. An initial investigation showed the vault was forcibly opened, but the police are still not discounting the possibility of an inside job. Investigators are also looking into whether the bank's anti-theft systems, including silent alarms, were in working condition at the time of the incident. Citing a report from the Zambales Provincial Police Office, Cruz told reporters the BPI branch is located in Iba town's Zone 3. Police are conducting an investigation on the incident, Cruz added. — LBG, GMANews.TV
