Phivolcs: Predawn quake hits Zambales

A predawn quake measuring magnitude 3.4 rocked Zambales province Friday, but state seismologists expect no damage or aftershock. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvolcs) said the quake was recorded at 2:17 a.m., and was tectonic in origin. It said the epicenter was traced to 33 km southwest of Iba town in Zambales, but did not immediately specify particular areas where the quake was felt. Meanwhile, a magnitude-3.9 quake rocked Davao Oriental before dawn Thursday, according to a belated Phivolcs bulletin issued Friday. Phivolcs said the quake was recorded at 4:29 a.m. Thursday and was tectonic in origin. Its epicenter was traced to 96 km northeast of Mati town in Davao Oriental. No aftershock was expected from Thursday's quake, Phivolcs said. — LBG, GMANews.TV
