Bomb threat spoils students' field trip to Subic

A bomb threat sent through a text message spoiled the field trip of 11 busloads of students to Subic in Zambales province on Friday morning. Radio dzBB reported that the school principal of the Infant Jesus Montessori Center in Cavite said she received the bomb threat at around 9:30 a.m. She quietly informed the authorities about the threat to avoid making the students panic. The convoy of buses was travelling along the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) near Clark in Pampanga when the principal received the text message. "Meron daw na dalawang bus ng Lakbay Aral, may bomba (The texter said bombs were planted on two of the field trip buses)," Infant Jesus Montessori Center principal Plamar Cadiz said. One of the mothers who accompanied the students said they had to wait for more than two hours while an Air Force bomb squad searched the buses. "Yung aming principal naka-receive siya ng text from concerned citizen. Dalawa raw sa bus namin may naka-plant na bomba," said the mother who was not identified in the report. (The principal of the school received a text message claiming that bombs were planted on two of the buses.) The mother said they waited for at least two hours before a bomb squad from the Philippine Air Force allowed them to board the buses shortly after noon. The mother said they were allowed to get back to the bus after an Air Force bomb squad gave an all-clear signal shortly after noon, but dzBB reported the bomb squad inspected the buses a second time. The mother said they were told that the field trip would push through despite the delay. – VVP, GMANews.TV
