Comebacking Pinay golfer Agojo hangs tough in China tilt

Jayvee Agojo, a young player on the comeback trail, has rediscovered her old, deadly form. The University of Pepperdine graduate shot a one-over-par 73 to place fourth after two rounds of the China Amateur Championships at the Nanhai Peach Garden East-West Course in China. The former Philippine Ladies Open champion had a 146 in 36 holes. Dottie Ardina (76) and Lovelyn Guioguio (75) were tied at sixth with 150. Agojo temporarily left the game, but resumed her career with the ICTSI-backed national golf squad recently. Slowly but surely, she is regaining the confidence, strength and swagger that made her a winner in previous years. “The fundamentals are always present. It’s a matter of putting together all the other ingredients to produce another win," Agojo said. Andrea Unson stood a shot farther back at 151 after a 73, while Chihiro Ikeda and Sarah Ababa each assembled a 153 after a 78 and 75, respectively. Geleen Handog had an 80 for a 157. - KY, RCJ, Adrian Flores, GMANews.TV
