Reigning menâs titlist University of Santo Tomas played true to form, outplaying University of the East, 25-8, 25-15, 23-25, 25-20, Sunday in the UAAP menâs volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan. John Paul Torres compiled 23 points, including 15 hits and six blocks, while teammate Salvador Depante III added 15 hits, three blocks and two aces in leading the Tigers to their second straight win. Despite the win, Tigers coach Emil Lontoc was not satisfied. âBumabalik na naman âyung sakit nila na pag nanalo ng malaki sa first two sets, nagre-relax na, kaya sila nasisingitan," explained Lontoc. The loss was the third straight for the Warriors, who fell to the bottom of the standings. Ateneo de Manila stunned Adamson, 25-17, 22-25, 26-24, 25-20, in the other game to finally make it to the win column. The Eagles lost their first two assignments.
