Report: 2 hurt in Manila 'shootout' between photojournalist, cops

At least two people were reported injured in a shooting incident involving a tabloid photojournalist and a group of policemen in Manila midnight Friday. Radio dzBB's Roland Bola reported the incident occurred near the house of "Abante" photojournalist Jasper Barcelon in the city's Sampaloc district. Barcelon's father Roberto was rushed to a hospital after a stray bullet hit him, while one PO3 Arthur Martinez was brought to the University of Santo Tomas Hospital for treatment. An initial investigation showed Barcelon's brother accosted Martinez and one PO1 Arnul Gregorio for urinating near the house. The two policemen, who allegedly were not in uniform at the time, supposedly drew out their handguns and started firing at the house of the Barcelons. Photojournalist Barcelon said the firing forced him to fire back at the policemen. — LBG, GMANews.TV
