Fire hits landmark restaurant in Manila’s Malate district

Fire of undetermined origin razed the legendary corner restaurant Cafe Adriatico in Manila's Malate district Monday night. A favorite of Malate habitues and the first restaurant established by the late restaurateur Larry Cruz, the cafe served familiar Filipino and Spanish dishes since 1979. It was well-known for its callos. Late-night theater patrons would go there for its traditional chocolate and churos merienda.
