Phivolcs: Predawn quake rocks Davao; 3 more hit NLuzon Monday night

A magnitude-3 quake jolted the Davao area in Mindanao before dawn Tuesday, hours after at least three earthquakes hit northern Luzon Monday night following a stronger temblor in the morning. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Tuesday's quake was recorded at 4:32 a.m., and was tectonic in origin. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the quake's epicenter was at 31 km northeast of Tagum in Davao. No damage or aftershock was expected from the predawn quake, Phivolcs said. Last Monday night, at least three quakes hit Northern Luzon, two of them occurring in Nueva Vizcaya, after a magnitude-5.1 quake hit the province Monday morning. Phivolcs said a magnitude-3 quake was recorded at 8:04 p.m., with the epicenter at 18 km southwest of Bayombong. Another quake measuring magnitude 2.5 was recorded at 8:43 p.m., with the epicenter at 9 km southwest of Bayombong. Phivolcs said a third quake was recorded in Pangasinan province at 10:05 p.m. It said the Pagasinan quake was tectonic and its epicenter was traced to 42 km southwest of Lingayen town. — LBG, GMANews.TV
