Lauro Vizconde, supporters hold prayer vigil as SC tackles case

As the Supreme Court (SC) began deliberations on the case, the patriarch of the Vizconde family started on Tuesday a prayer vigil to seek justice for the massacre of his family 19 years ago. Radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported that Lauro Vizconde and his supporters, including members of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption, held a prayer vigil at his home in southern Metro Manila.

The SC was scheduled to start deliberations on the case on Tuesday morning and SC spokesman Jose Midas Marquez said a decision may be reached within the day. "Pagdedebatehan nila yan. Pag nagkasunduan na, maaring lumabas (The high court's justices will debate on the issue. Once they reach a consensus, they will come out)," Marquez said in an interview on dzBB radio. Last month, Vizconde accused a Supreme Court justice of moving for the reversal of the conviction of the suspects on the case issued by then Parañaque Judge Amelita Tolentino, who is now an Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals. At least seven people, including Hubert Webb – son of former senator Freddie Webb - were meted life sentences for the murders of Estrellita Vizconde and her daughters Carmela, 18, and Jennifer, 7, in June 1991. The Supreme Court and Webb’s family had dared Vizconde to name names. – VVP, GMANews.TV
